What started as a hobby to make my own jewellery has turned into a bit of an obsession. Bracelets are my current fascination and I find myself churning them out and I am now running the risk of becoming the Imelda Marcos of bracelets. It has taken a lot of trial and error and the collection came about by accident after my mum gave me an old family vintage pearl necklace that was broken in case I could do anything with it. I’m not sure if I was supposed to but I took it apart anyway (!) and used the pearls to make new bits of jewellery!! Don’t worry, I did make her something which included a stunning piece of handcut jade which she bought from a monastery in Singapore. (note to self – must get a photo!) I love silver and realised that silver and pearls look quite nice together. Pearls are often seen as the jewellery of the older generation, generally accompanying a nice cashmere twin set. They are also very popular for bridal jewellery. Hopefully, by giving them a modern twist, I’ve proved that you don’t have to be a little old lady or a bride to get away with pearls.
ps. I’m in love with the silver swallow beads in this collection from my fave beadshop Bijoux Beads. Anyways, hope you like my stuff:
